Obituary:

Jerome “Jerry” Ladell Offerdahl, 82, a resident of the Portland community passed away on July 17, 2020 at Maryville Memory Care of Alzheimers disease.

Jerry was born on March 5, 1938 at his Grandmother’s house in Aberdeen, SD. He was the middle of three children born to Lambert and Mary (Wilmarth) Offerdahl. He was raised in Fargo, ND and graduated from Shanley High School with the class of 1956.  After earning his Bachelor’s degree from NDSU, Jerry joined the ARMY ROTC which took him to Moses Lake, WA in the Air Defense Artillery.  He served for 2 years followed by 4 more years in the reserves.

He met his future wife, Sharon Sandvik, at NDSU in 1959.  The two started dating immediately and married on November 12, 1960.  Together, they had five children.  Jerry’s growing career as a Manager with Payless Drug Stores took the family all over the West Coast and Denver, CO.

In 1983 Jerry and Sharon bought and managed several Nevada Bob’s Golf also known as Golf Headquarters stores until retiring in 2006.

Jerry loved golf and shared that love by teaching his whole family how to play.  He would golf year round and in any weather, including snow more than once.  Vacations and traveling decisions were based on what courses were in the area, all but the one vacation to Europe without the golf clubs.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 daughters, Jennifer Offerdahl Skach and Patricia Lynn Offerdahl.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, three children; Jodi and Mike Depinna of Portland, Jerome and Tanya Offerdahl of Happy Valley, Jonathon and Ashton Offerdahl of Phoenix; two siblings; Tom and Barb Offerdahl of West Virginia, Virginia Kelly of Phoenix; eight grandchildren; Kyle, Chris and Noelle, Lucas, Keenan, Addie, Ava, Ryleigh and Kinzie.

The family suggests donations in Jerry's name to the Adoration Chapel at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1280 NW Saltzman Rd. Portland, OR 97229 or the Maryville Memory Care 4520 SW 148th Ave. Beaverton, OR 97007

A private Memorial is planned for Thursday July 23, 2020 at the Mount Calvary Cemetery.
