FARGO — Mark Olsonawski was named the head coach of the Fargo Shanley Deacons boys hockey team, the school announced via release on Friday.
Olsonawski enters the position ahead of the Deacons' inaugural season. In February, Shanley opted to dissolve its co-op with Fargo South that lasted 15 seasons. The move was made official earlier this month.
"Olsonawski brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and proven success," Deacons activities director Mark Hollcraft stated in the release. "He also has a strong familiarity with St. John Paull II Catholic Schools, Shanley High School and working in a co-op environment."
Olsonawski was a former two-sport athlete, football and hockey, at Minnesota-Crookston.
In addition to dissolving the co-op with South, Shanley formed a new co-op with Fargo Oak Grove, Moorhead Park Christian and Capstone Classical Academy in Fargo.
