Obituary:

Alan Lee McDougall was born on October 12, 1956, to Neil and Valeria (Veit) McDougall in Breckenridge, MN. Al spent his earliest years on the family farm in Antelope Township, Richland County with his four brothers and three sisters. As the youngest sibling of 8, he was a fighter from the beginning.
Al attended Wyndmere Public Schools from first grade through seventh grade. The family moved to Fargo the summer of 1969. Al attended 8th grade at Holy Spirit and then Fargo Shanley High School where he played basketball and ran cross country. Al also played Fargo Legion baseball throughout high school and graduated from Shanley in 1974.
After high school, Al worked several years for the Otis Elevator Company. On December 2, 1980, he married Victoria Cowman. During a span of over 30 years in the sales business, he worked for Global Electric Motorcars, Sugar Sand Marine and most recently with Corwin Automotive Group.  He thoroughly enjoyed striking up a conversation with everyone and would do anything for anyone.
Al’s greatest joy in life was being a father to his two children, Vanessa and Jeffrey (JD), and grandpa to his three grandchildren, Teo, Naimah and Jeriah. Al was known by his kids and grandchildren for making the best banana pancakes, a recipe no one has been able to replicate.
When Al wasn’t working or spending time with his kids, you would find him on the golf course, watching football or spending time with family or friends.  Al  is survived by his children Vanessa (Jared) Duran and JD McDougall, grandchildren, Teo Duran, Naimah and Jeriah McDougall; his three sisters, MaryBeth (Gary) Fox, Marlys (Paul) Dotzenrod, Barb (Paul) Geier; three brothers, David (Rosemary), James (Mary Maruska), and Kent (Margie); sister-in-law LuAnn McDougall; many nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith McDougall; and nephew, Chris McDougall. Al’s unwavering determination to live life to the fullest and optimistic spirit will leave a lasting legacy in all those he encountered throughout his life.
A celebration of life will be held at Boulger Funeral Home this summer on a date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Ethos Home Health Care and Hospice. Please visit https://www.ethoscare.org/donate/ to make a donation in memory of Al McDougall.
