This is a Deacon Alert to inform you of the passing of James "Jim" Schreiner on Saturday, March 15th.

Jim was the father of Pat Schreiner ('82), Christine (Schreiner) Lawyer ('83), Michael Schreiner ('84), Robert Schreiner ('86), Susan "Claire" (Schreiner) L'Moure, and the late Mark Schreiner.

Obituary:

James R. “Jim” Schreiner, 88, of Moorhead, MN passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Eventide Senior Living, Moorhead, MN.
Jim was born in Graceville, MN on December 15, 1936, to Richard and Frances (Boyle) Schreiner. In 1946, the family moved to Dilworth. Jim excelled in sports throughout high school, graduating in 1954. He attended Moorhead State before joining the railroad. Jim later enlisted in the North Dakota Air National Guard where he served from 1959 – 1992, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant. 
Jim married Gerane “Gerri” Schaffhausen on June 2, 1962, and they built their home in Moorhead. They spent many weekends at their place on Lake Lida. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, photography, dog training, tree planting (and cutting), and in retirement worked on the Wednesday maintenance crew at St. Francis. He also took up woodworking, creating intricate carvings among other things. If he could be left alone with a chainsaw and book of matches, he would be in his happy place.
Jim is survived by his wife, Gerri; children, Pat (Karen) Schreiner, Christine (Michael) Lawyer, Michael Schreiner, Robert (Kim) Schreiner, and Susan “Claire” L‘Moure; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren; sister, Lorita “Babe”; and many nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark; brothers, Richard, Donald, Victor, Jack, Bill, and Tom; and sister, Lonnie. 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour before the service at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.
Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
