This is a Deacon Alert to inform you of the passing of Joy Korsmo on Thursday, Nov. 28th.
Joy was the mother of Kevin Korsmo ('75), Patrick Korsmo ('76), Kathleen Korsmo ('77), Daniel Korsmo ('89), and the late Maureen Korsmo-LeCompte ('78).
 
Obituary:

Joy D. Korsmo, 91, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, in Evergreen Assisted Living, Moorhead, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Joy Delores Heimann was born on January 18, 1933, to Vernon and Evelyn (Crowley) Heimann, in Valley City, ND. Joy was a majorette at Valley City High School, graduating in 1950. After high school Joy moved to Spokane, WA, with her family. There she went to Deaconess School of Nursing, graduating in 1955. Joy and Gerald “Jerry” Korsmo met in Valley city. It was after Joy moved to Spokane that the two became engaged. On December 31, 1955, Joy and Jerry were united in marriage, in Spokane. Together, the two made their home in North Dakota, where they had five children. Joy was a registered nurse for 49 years, working at Dakota Hospital, St. John’s and the VA Hospital. 
Joy was an active member of Nativity Church of Fargo, ND. She was a volunteer with Nativity’s Mending Hearts group, as a volunteer nurse. She appreciated the arts and was a member of the Fine Arts Club of Fargo. Joy and Jerry enjoyed classical music and often attended the FM Opera. Joy’s biggest love was her family. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She loved to cook and enjoy time at the lakes with her family and friends.
Joy is survived by her children; Kevin (Barbara) Korsmo, Patrick (Jennifer) Korsmo, Kathleen Korsmo, and Daniel (Jennie) Korsmo; son-in-law, Cris LeCompte; grandchildren, Amber Korsmo (Jenna), Randi (Kevin) Boyd, Kathy Korsmo (Patrick Maziarz), Laycee, Sara, Elizabeth Joy, Thore and Anna Joy Korsmo ,Heidi (Nick) Norberg, Katie (Ian) Rich; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Nora, Tyler, Mason, Emerit, Kristin and George, sister in law, Angela Korsmo, brother in law Gordon Lambrecht, snd many nieces and nephews.
 She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry; her parents, Vernon and Evelyn; amazing daughter, Maureen Korsmo-LeCompte; and her brothers, Robert, Jerry, and Eugene Heimann. 
 Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 5-7PM, with a Prayer Service to follow, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead. Joy’s Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 2 PM, in Nativity Church of Fargo. Burial will be in Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo, in the spring.
